Becoming more like Him!

What does it take to become more like Jesus? The spiritual ingredients are straightforward, according to the Bible. It takes time and process. Let’s explore the most essential component of all. Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” It requires faith! It requires the right kind of faith.

Faith is foundational to becoming more like Christ. It is paramount and required for all Christians. Where there is no faith, there is no Christian. As previously stated, apart from faith you are not saved. (Romans 10:9) Without faith it is impossible to please God. (Heb. 11:6) It has been said, “Faith does not believe despite the evidence, but obeying despite the consequence.”

Part I: Dead Faith/Intellectual Faith

Question? In the midst of what seems like world chaos and constant bombardment of one crisis after another, What is your faith experience? The question is meant to be self-searching! Do you claim salvation but have no saving faith? Do you substitute words for action? Meaning, do you talk about a difference needed but are not willing to be the difference maker? Talking about it but not being about it? If your answer any one of the questions, then you are amongst the walking dead, Not a movie, you are in the “Dead faith Zone!”

Maybe you have the correct religious vocabulary for prayer and testimony and perhaps you are very capable of quoting scripture with a valid biblical address. But does your daily walk and lifestyle measure up to your talk? Are you defending your faith with your words but failing to demonstrate your faith in loving works and activities, daily? Check your faith pulse. It may be a dead faith!

If your declaration of faith does not result in a changed life and good works, deeds, and actions it is a false declaration and is dead. What you may have is an intellectual experience. Beware and be very careful of merely an intellectual faith. It will not get you into heaven upon death, nor will you have the experience of the abundant life here on earth. Intellectual dead faith is counterfeit faith, not a saving faith. Stop! Check your faith-pulse, Now!

Personal Prayer:

Dear Lord, search me and know my heart, test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me. Point out anything in me that offends you Lord, and lead me along the path of life everlasting. Lord, I want my faith to be a life-changing faith, not just my life, but the lives of others changed because of my living faith. I want more than an intellectual and emotional experience. I want to become more like Jesus every day in my faith walk. I surrender my intellectual-dead faith today and move my faith out of the dead zone into life-giving faith. I will not be lulled into false confidence of my eternity. Thank you for the grace of faith. Amen!
