“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” II Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)

Entanglement seems to be the latest buzzword for promiscuity, licentiousness, and debauchery to soften the blow of the sins that ensnare. However, scripture has the best and right perspective on worldly entanglements. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but instead tries to please, his commanding officer. No one serving as a soldier permits himself to get entwined, ensnared, and entangled in the affairs of this worldly life. Entangle describes something that has been woven together. As Christians, we don’t have the privilege of getting too involved or intertwined with relatively unimportant matters in light of eternity. No one serving as a soldier permits himself to get entwined, ensnared, and entangled in the affairs of this life. Our souls, emotions, and desires are not to become so ensnared, entangled and caught up in the things of the world that we become mesh together with them. Christian friends, do everything in your power to keep the temporal things of this world in the right perspective. Keep them in your hands but out of your heart. (ESCAPE) Holy Spirit, show me areas of my life that need to be UNtangled and brought back into balance. This does not mean we stick our heads in the sand! The worldly tactics of the enemy are blatant and in your face so, the approach to the world is always to be “Armed and ready for Battles“ Keep the whole armor of God intact and run to the fight, using the weapons of warfare God has provided! Stay free from things that seek to entangle you!! STAY FREE ALWAYS by following Jesus. Give Him every entanglement, the battle is God’s, not yours. We Win!!!!

1. Have you allowed any of your material possessions to ensnare or trap you? Why don’t you make a list for your journal?
2. What steps can you take to get untangled in your heart from these possessions? Habits? Behaviors? Thoughts?
3. Do you trust God enough to release all your worldly possessions, cares, and concerns, into His hands?

UNTANGLED PRAYER: Lord, I ask you to help me keep my heart free from the things of the world. You have called me to be a committed and focused Christian soldier. I cannot permit anything to ensnare and entrap me, that’s distracting me from the good fight of faith, you’ve called me to fight and win. You are the revealer of the secrets of men’s (humankind) hearts, so today I am looking to you to reveal to me any areas in my soul, where I have allowed something to interrupt me so greatly that it threatens to eliminate me from the fight and ultimately from my destiny and your purpose for my life. I pray this, in Jesus’ name!

UNTANGLED DECLARATION: I boldly declare that my heart and soul are free to follow Jesus Christ! My worldly possessions are in my hands, but they are not in my heart. I will remain free of materialism, worry, and worldly concerns. I will stay focused on the task Jesus Christ has assigned to me! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’ name!! I am Free to Follow Jesus. Today I am Untangled with the world!
